Love, An Inner Connection: Based on Principles Drawn from the I Ching by Carol K. Anothony

I had only just started learning about the I Ching when I picked up Love, an Inner Connection. I think I was concerned that I would need to be more adept at (and conversant in) the I Ching in order to understand this book. However, I soon realized that this was not necessary.

Carol K. Anthony has spent years studying the I Ching, which is an ancient tool for bringing forth the wisdom that lies within us all, ever present and awaiting our discovery. Ms. Anthony explains, in a patient and loving way, how the relationships we have are opportunities for us to tap into the true, loving selves that we are. She draws on wisdom from the I Ching to guide and support us as we overcome our past negative patterns, fear, and egos, and open ourselves to the possibilities of nurturing, supportive partnerships.

This book has taught me much about breaking old, negative patterns of how I thought love should behave, when giving and when receiving love. While some of the instructions to say No to the ego at first seemed difficult or out of character to me, in time (through practice and through meditation to check in with my own inner voice), I realized the profound wisdom that Ms. Anthony has brought forth in this book. I am grateful to the honesty with which Ms. Anthony breaks through the learned patterns, and the freedom I have found on the other side.
